Plant Metallurgist-Ohio $4 Billion manufacturer (full relocation)
This role
is a key contributor to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Plant’s metallurgical and heat treat operations.
This role has the primary responsibility for the overall heat treat and metallurgical process including coordination
of customer-related quality issues, quality-related process improvements, the collection and monitoring of plant quality metrics,
the non-conforming products, the development of tactics to reduce cost and improve scrap, the implementation of new technologies
to improve overseeing/monitoring company’s supply-base in order to drive continuous improvement in both the quality
and performance of purchased components.
Specific responsibilities include:

Implement corporate and plant standards, technical instructions and procedures
in order to ensure that all metallurgical activities are in alignment with corporate standards and/or customer requirements.
Keep plant current with required lab submissions for various audits, and monthly reporting.

Provide manufacturing support via the analysis of metallurgical quality issues
related to heat treatment and finish production, and establish appropriate resolution for optimizing plant processes, including
those which inhibit product flow, as well as trouble shooting metallurgical processes as they impact turning and grinding
operations.
· Exercise authority
and responsibility to hold suspect product and to stop production of equipment producing unsatisfactory product.

Manage the disposition of questionable product-interpret product metallurgical
characteristics and make decisions on corrective actions and deviations needed as a result of product not meeting company/customer
standards. Work with local SQA for feeding back issues to supply base.

Provide/administer all metallurgical training needed for associates to understand
and perform their job functions.
· Act as a plant liaison with corporate metallurgical resources, and serve as the interface with customers at
a technical level.
· Develop, coordinate,
and implement processes to ensure optimum control of non-conforming product. Coordinate and lead efforts
to improve supplier quality, including the management of metallurgical issues in both green and finished product, and in developing
supplier capabilities in order to promote a more robust supply-chain of type I components.
Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in metallurgical engineering or material science and 3-5
years experience
· Knowledge of CQI9
and other industry metallurgical standards
· Knowledge and experience in supplier quality
·
Knowledge of ISO9001, TS16949 requirements
·
Knowledge and application of SPC and Eddy Current technologies
·
Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, PCP
·
Leadership Skills; solid team skills, excellent communication skills
·
Experience analyzing and solving problems
